One and Done? Don't Count On It, Son.

My good friend The Mighty Favog--a Nebraska-based DJ who is an old style FDR Democrat--posted an article from The Washington Times today.

The article, entitled "One and Done," calls for Obama to renounce running for a second term because, as they--former supporters of his--see it, the only way he will win in 2012 is through "scorched earth politics" of the most vicious sort.

They claim it would be 'the same level of scorched earth politics used by Bush in '02 and '04' or words to that effect, but I reject that comparison. The scorched earth politics to come would be that of the SIEU thuggery we saw this past year, or worse.

From the Washington Times editorial in question:
We do not come to this conclusion lightly. But it is clear, we believe, that the president has largely lost the consent of the governed. The midterm elections were effectively a referendum on the Obama presidency. And even if it was not an endorsement of a Republican vision for America, the drubbing the Democrats took was certainly a vote of no confidence in Obama and his party. The president has almost no credibility left with Republicans and little with independents.
The Mighty Favog responds: "[It's a] reasonable suggestion. I'd call it "taking the high road," only radically so....I also can't imagine any American politician actually doing it."

Well, I can't either, particularly our present President.

I agree with the writers (and with the Fav) that Mr. Obama should not run for a second term under any circumstances. I also absolutely agree that the only way the man can win a second term is through scorched earth politics.

However, I do NOT share their disappointment in the man, nor do I think he has failed to show his prior promise. The man never had the slightest bit of prior promise; his public pose has been from day one a lie.

I saw it instantly. You see, Obama and I have some things in common, starting with our near-common birthdate. I won't bore you with them, but I'll say this much: at 47 the man had absolutely no business running for President.

No business at all.

His first two years he has clearly exhibited behavior of one "overpromoted" -- i.e., one who left his Level of Incompetence behind him a couple of jobs ago and is now utterly out of his depth, to PRECISELY the degree he and his cheerleaders accused Palin of being two years ago.

Watching what he has done this last year makes it clear to me that he has been a cat's paw of the red diaper movement which has lain in wait for 30 years, since the collapse of the Nixon administration, for 'their time.'

Obama himself is a nobody, an empty suit, a hollow reed--but a reed through which the true internal enemies of this country have blown, do blow and will continue to blow the music of Morgoth.

Do not expect him to withdraw. The man cannot withdraw as he would be admitting his unfitness for the office. The man must be defeated and his faction extirpated electorally. We're going to have to do this, lawfully, legally and the hard way, because one thing about a malign narcissist is that he cannot accept criticism and will lash out viciously at those who do dare criticize him.

Buckle your seat belt. We're in for a bumpy ride.
